just a girl and her dog - OC lore development
It’s been so nice these days, sitting in my workspace with the abundant amount of natural lighting what with all the windows in the space…just peeking out of the balcony door allowing me a beautiful view of the surrounding mountainsides that are an inherent part of the landscape here. I was raised in north Texas in the D/FW area, and those of you that know that general area geologically know that it’s impressively…flat. there are no real natural land formations that make the landscape beautiful or significant in any way. so, as you’d imagine, a very Texan Rook driving down the highway in Nevada just in awe at the mountainous landscape that it is. I’m easily impressed, I’ll be the first to admit lol. in D/FW, we don’t have ocean, hardly any lakes (a few but maybe only one or two spots that are easily accessible to the general public) and a LOT of concrete, so you get accustomed to having housing developments and city skylines as your landscape. let me tell you how this has been a refreshing change of pace.
of course, inspiration can find one pretty quickly when your environment is equally as inspiring and uplifting. I’ve been working on a few new projects and taking commissions, and in the interim working on developing character lore. my latest efforts have been going toward some OCs I’ve grabbed from other artists when available for purchase over time on places like toyhou.se and Instagram…the latest additions are Skel and Demian.

Skel is a very outwardly stoic, reserved girl from a fairly frigid northern region, and her general wardrobe usually consisted of fur-lined coats and boots, and warmer winter attire. she has a deep drawing toward streetwear aesthetics though and finds herself increasingly frustrated she can’t wear them comfortably with her region’s climate. Skel also has a vested interest in the BDSM lifestyle as a Domme, generally donning a clean, classy victorian-esque corsets and dresses for situations such as that one, emanating a sleek, mysterious and powerful energy some might find intriguing, or even intimidating.
Demian…now, Demian is an outwardly aggressive, seemingly dominant presence from a large city in a coastal region, and learned from a very young age that he needed to wear a facade of aggression to survive. his parents split because of his mother’s substance dependencies and he was put into the care of his godparents. his guardians were fairly checked out from his childhood onward, leaving him considerably emotionally neglected and learning to fight for himself in a dog-eat-dog society. deep down, he desperately wants to find someone who might invest time and attention into him willingly, and work with and forgive his shortcomings as someone who is so abrasive and rough around the edges. you might find him donning strappy streetwear (think techwear) and other intense fashion choices that might have your average person stay their distance. combined with his aggressive approach and outward affect, most people do tend to turn the corner when they see him or any of his people coming their direction.
Skel and Demian meet, Demian resisting the attraction they had to each other but finding it hard to combat when their eyes ever lock. her reserved, yet dominant nature freezes him mid-protest and she doesn’t have to speak a word to stop him in his place. it was then that he realizes that the connection they foster is one he’d been hunting for his entire life in a notably unconventional way. her unspoken dominant presence in a room woke his desire to be seen, be claimed, be cared for. and, by nature, his stubborn and aggressive front strengthened her Domme-driven resolve to provide a space he could let his overdeveloped walls down. there would come a day he stops resisting the idea, and offers her submission in exchange for her care, and on the inverse, she eventually builds a trusting dynamic, receiving his absolute devotion and companionship. while there are quite a few romantic undertones, their dynamic remains what it is - D/s at its core, strengthening their bond and creating an unbreakable connection that most others don’t remotely compare to.
